Black Maxi Dress

I kept this outfit pretty simple as I think this dress is great for casual days by the beach or out to lunch with a friend.  It can definitely be dressed up, but today I kept it casual.  I've been loving this black Nordstrom dress which i received in the mail about a week ago.  I think the cut outs in the center are so cool and interesting, and is what separates it from other black maxi's.  I'll 100% be getting a ton of use out of this dress during this summer.

Country Concert Outfit Ideas

With summer approaching, concerts are officially in full swing.  In a couple of weeks I'm going to the Tim McGraw concert with a couple of my friends, but I also know there is a Taylor Swift concert coming up, as well as Summer Jam.  And let's be real, the primary reason for going to concerts besides enjoying the music, is picking a cute outfit and taking pictures.

I did a post about Coachella outfits here, so you may want to give that a skim if you're going to summer jam or some hipster festival, but today I'm talking about outfits for a country concert.  Here are some looks I'm loving from Pinterest.

This last look is probably my favorite because I think the cowgirl boots are so pretty.

Most of these looks incorporate some sort of denim or cowgirl boots, or both!

Tip #1 Don't go out and spend a fortune on cowboy boots.  Borrow some from a friend that has gone to a country concert before an purchased a pair.  If you're planning on wearing them a lot, then buy them!  But otherwise, they can be expensive for one time use.

Tip #2 Check out cheaper stores if you're buying your whole outfit.  Places like Forever 21 have good concert clothes at very affordable prices.  Even though the quality may not be great, the store is perfect for a one and done outfit.

Tip #3 Hair makes or breaks a look.  If you have a busy outfit, keep your hair straight.  If your outfit needs a little more, try curling your hair or adding small braids.

Summer 2015 Bucket List

Summer is actually a pretty short time if you think about it, but it is what we look forward to our whole year. Since I was twelve years old, I've been making bucket lists to make sure I complete as many things as possible per summer and make each summer better than the one before.  This year I will be away at sleep away camp for an entire month, so my bucket list is a little bit shorter than usual since I have one less month.  I really want to go the the farmer's market a lot, take a yoga class, and see the sun set on top of a hill.  If I can complete this entire list I will be more than thrilled with the outcome of my summer.  Do we have similarities on our bucket lists?  What would you add?

Memorial Day Weekend Outfit

I should start off by saying happy Memorial Day Weekend!  I always love this time of the year because school is coming to a close, the weather is nice out, and the barbecues begin.  This weekend I've been working a lot, but today I am going up to my friends beach house via boat and sleeping over (so I'm very excited!).

I obviously had to incorporate some red, white, and blue into my outfit for Memorial Day.  My shirt is from MadeWell, and it is so loose and comfortable.  I wore some basic distressed denim jeans to capture some blue, and although I didn't include much white in my outfit, my pearls add just a touch.

Dress It Up

During the summer I find myself always wearing a dress.  Dresses are great for the summer because they're light and flowy, and very girly.  I probably go out to dinner twice a week with my family from June-August and always like to look cute.  For this reason I have accumulated many summer dresses, and I always want more.  I try to steer clear of dresses above $50, because if you buy inexpensive ones, you can buy more.  With that being said, I still like quality in my clothes.  Tobi is one off my primary dress shopping websites.  The clothes from there come with great quality, and an awesome price.  it is only an online store, but if the size doesn't fit, they're great about returns/ exchanges.  The dresses pictured above are all from Tobi.

Instagram Round Up

I will say the past few weeks at my school have been crazy.  The seniors had their last day on Tuesday, and now I am counting down until my last day (June 21)!  With that being said, teachers have been dumping work on us to finish everything up for the year and before you know it, it'll be that time of year everyone dreads: finals.  However, I think I still have 1-2 weeks of busy work before the real studying begins.

Anyways, today on the blog I've rounded up a few of my Instagram posts from this week of things I've been enjoying.

1. This dress from Revolve is absolutely stunning.  I love the details on the sleeve and the open shoulders.

2. The fruit right now has been delicious.  I think the cherries are some of the best I've ever had, and the kiwi too.  It looks so bright and pretty, so I couldn't resist snapping a picture.

3.  I work at a place that sells flowers, and lately people have been buying all sorts of beautiful spring bouquets.  The flowers of spring have the best colors and scents.

4.  Finally, I've been able to wear some of my summer clothing.  In New England we hit the eighty degree weather for a few days, so I've definitely taken advantage of that.

5.  Scenic Views during May are so calm and fresh.  Taking outfit photos has been really pleasant without snow on the ground of negative degree weather like we dealt with in the Winter, so I'm just appreciating the change in season.

Pineapple Pattern

If you are in search for some fun and bold summer patterns, this top is perfect.  I love the bright colors of the pineapples paired with white jeans so the shirt really "pops".  Some other patterns that have been trending this season are tye-dye shirts, which are really cool, and another is palm tree patterns.  I feel like I always touch upon the weather, but it is so nice out right now.  It is perfectly sunny and in the mid-seventies so it's just right outside.  I have something like 25 more days of school thanks to all of the snow days, but at least I can feel summer inching forward.

Some of my favorite pineapple patterned clothing:  1 - 2 - 3 - 4

Sunglasses Styles

Throughout the years I feel like the style of sunglasses has gotten a lot more fun and adventurous.  I love experimenting with playful sunglasses, but I have to keep a classic, more sophisticated pair with me at all times too.  Right now my favorite style of shades are the cat eye.  They are so unique and fashionable, and I think flatter most faces.  I also have been loving the Club Master sunglasses (check out j crew factory for some good discounts on those).  I rely on my club masters when I want to look more classy or preppy.  I am definitely not able to pull of the entirely round, circle sunglasses; however, when somebody can, I think it looks awesome.  Finally, I do have heart shaped sunglasses, which are really fun for carnivals or vacations ($12 pair here !!!)

Style Icon: Miranda Kerr

I absolutely adore Miranda Kerr, one of the Victoria's Secret angels and street style perfectionist.  This month I picked her as style icon because I've been obsessing over her Instagram and wanted to find out more about her fashion.  She has a really cute and sophisticated style, and some of the outfits I included would be great for this summer.  Take a look at some of my favorites (5 and 6 win for me):

I do a style icon every month, so check out my previous ones here.

Palm Tree Romper

Before I expand upon my outfit choice, let me say: please excuse my sunburn.  My arms hardly ever burn, so I passed on using sunscreen while biking 26 miles.  Mistake.  Moving on, for Mother's Day dinner my family went to a semi-casual-fancy restaurant in our town, and I wanted to look cute.  However, the temperatures were in the nineties so I wanted to stay cool.  What better choice than a romper.  I love this palm tree romper from Nordstrom (unfortunately this is from last year, but I linked a similar romper below), especially the really cool back.  I wore a black bandeau with it because of the back cutouts, and I also got use out of my favorite new sunglasses.

Styling High Waisted Shorts

{STYLING HIGH WAISTED SHORTS}

My favorite thing that comes with summer fashion are high waisted shorts.  Some people are anti-high waisted shorts; however, it is hard to be since there are many different types.  First, the classic denim.  These are y favorite.  I love pairing them with almost everything, but I think it looks best when you keep them with a classic pattern, like stripes.  Next are the flowy high-waisted shorts.  These look best with a tighter shirt since they're already loose.  I have several pairs of these shorts since they're super comfortable and in this spring.  Lastly are the tighter, more sophisticated looking ones.  I cannot pull these off, but think they look great on people who can.  Check out the links below to see my favorite high waisted shorts.

Makeup Routine

My makeup routine changes approximately every two or three months, as it usually changes with the seasons.  Since mid-April I've had my new routine down for Spring, and I'm loving my new look. Since its almost summer, my main goal was to make my face look more sun-kissed, and my eyes brighter.  Here is my step-by-step routine!

I begin with my Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in the shade Ivory.  It has medium coverage which is a good amount when it starts to get hot out because the worst is sweating due to heavy foundation.  I then put on Smashbox Concealer under my eyes and over any blemishes.  I don't use this daily, just when I need it.  Finally, I set everything with the Bare Minerals translucent powder.  I focus the powder on my forehead and nose, the more greasy areas, to make sure not to look cake-y.

These three steps are probably my favorite.  I start with Hoola Bronzer, which I've used for more than a year now and I swear by it.  I just do the normal contouring under my cheek bones and on my temples.  I love the tan, sun-kissed look it gives.  Above the bronzer, I use the elf Baked Highlighter, which is so cool because whenever the sun hits it, my face brightens up.  Last, I use a little bit of Glossybox Blush, it has a blue undertone which makes the blush much more subtle.

Onto eyes.  I don't do anything fancy with eyeshadow.  If I'm in the mood I use the Cindy Lou Manizer which could be used as a highlight or an eyeshadow.  My new favorite thing is this Julep eyeliner.  It looks so amazing and I'll be wearing it for a while.  I transitioned to this brown eyeliner instead of the dark black I wore in the winter.  Then obviously mascara.  As usual I sport the Benefit "they're real!" mascara.

For lips I've been obsessing over bright colors.  I don't usually wear anything extravagant on my lips; however, this Lip Tar by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is screaming my name and I can't wait to try it out soon.
