eShakti

The weather has been so hot and humid lately, which makes picking an outfit quite difficult.  On those kind of days, I usually end up throwing on a light dress and some sandals so I don't end up sweating.  Shift dresses have been my go to this summer since they are so comfortable, not to mention in style too.  I received this dress from eShakti and it fits perfectly.  You know when you find that one piece of clothing that feels like it was made for you?  Yep, this dress.  When ordering form eShakti, you give them all of your measurements and they custom make the dress for each customer.  You can even request different sleeve styles for each dress, and decide if you want the length to be mini, short, knee length, etc...

I'm thrilled with this white and turquoise shift dress and will be wearing it on all of the hot days which will be coming up this summer.  I wore it with my Birkenstocks, which I also love to death.  The whole ensemble gives more of a bohemian vibe, my favorite!

Things Often Left Behind

I headed off to sleep away camp as of yesterday so will be spending the next month in New Hampshire without a phone or any other electronics.  I prescheduled my blog posts so those will continue to post every other day, but unfortunately I will not be able to reply to emails or comments until July 25th.  My friend is running my Instagram account (@travelingposh) so that is being taken care of as well.  I just wanted to briefly mention that, and to go along with it, todays post is about little things to remember when going away.

First, do not forget your hairbrush.  I often forget mine because I need to use it the morning I leave, so somehow it never makes it into my suitcase.  Same thing with my makeup.  I use it in the morning, then leave it behind in my bathroom.  I also always forget to bring a pair of flip flops, no matter what.  Even if you are traveling in winter, the hotel may have a pool or spa which you'll wish you brought flip flops for.  Sunglasses are so easy to forget, but a pain not to have.  Other necessities are pajamas, a comfy sweatshirt, and a camera.  If you're traveling this summer, make a check list of the things you'll need so you're prepared for your trip!

Yogurt Parfait

I guess this isn't really a parfait, but were just going to call it that.  This is obviously not hard at all to make, and doesn't require much instruction, I mainly posted it to just get some healthy eating inspiration on the blog.

The strawberries and blueberries are delicious this time of year so I've been thinking of all the ways to combine them into my meals. I forgot how much I love yogurt mixed in with fruit and granola, but this breakfast was so refreshing.  I used the Chobani raspberry yogurt and combined it with a pinch of granola, handful of strawberries, and a few blueberries too.  It filled me up and was a health start to my day.

I have a busy day of packing and cleaning ahead of me, so I'm not so much looking forward to it.  Hopefully I will have time to take some blog pictures in my new eShakti dress I recently received, so keep an eye out for that!

Summer at Last

Today was my last day of school, so it is summer at last.  I got out of school at 11:15 today and then grabbed lunch and did some shopping with my mom.  We then proceeded to take blog pictures while walking my dog.  It was really nice to go outside and walk my dog, take some pictures, and spend time with my mom after being stuck in my room the entire weekend studying for exams.

Anyways, now that I'm not worrying about homework and clubs, I will have much more time to devote to the blog which I'm thrilled about.  This weekend I'm heading up to New Hampshire for a month at sleep away camp.  I have prescheduled blog posts ready for that time, but if I'm not replying to comments for a little while, that's why!

Style Icon: Sarah Hyland

It is that time of the month where I select my style icon of the month.  For some reason I've been watching countless episodes of the older Modern Families from 2012 and even before that.  So that influenced my decision in picking Sarah Hyland.  However, I didn't realize how much I like her red carpet style until recently.  Take a look of some of my favorite dresses of hers on the Red Carpet.

Look one and three are my absolute favorites of the five.  Which one do you like the best?

Trending: Suede Skirts

I'm just going to jump right in to this post!  I was watching Amanda Steele's most recent Youtube video on some clothing haul, and she purchased this skirt shown above.  I've actually seen this skirt a lot recently, it's from TopShop so obviously it is pretty popular.  I styled this outfit above and I think it would be great to wear to lunch or even out to a nice dinner.  You can really dress it up or down depending on what you pair with it, but it is pretty versatile (which justifies the $140 price tag!)

I am getting through my last week of school right now, and soon I will be heading up to New Hampshire for a month so this time of year is really busy.  Sorry for the lack of content a few days ago, but I'm catching up and hopefully once schools out I'll be able to post a lot more on the blog.

Summer Snack Inspiration

I am a big snacker in the summer.  It's probably because food tastes so much better from May-August during their best months.  Everything is so crisp and fresh that you can't help but want to try every fruit in the grocery store or experiment with recipes you see online.  I saw these few recipes on Pinterest, and oh my goodness they all look delicious.

1. Mini Avocado-Caprese Salads

 2.  Homemade Strawberry Banana Popsicles

3.  Fresh Fruit Kabobs

4.  Avocado Salsa

 5.  Key Lime Fudge Squares

These all look beyond perfect, and if you want to make any of them, you can google the name I labeled it, or search it on Pinterest.  I ended up making #1 (mini avocado-caprese salads) and my whole family enjoyed them as an appetizer and it was just a really fun summer thing to do.  If you end up making one of these, tag me in your Instagram picture of it @travelingposh .

Tribal Shorts

Oh yes I do love flowy shorts.  I got these cute tribal shorts at Tilly's and I've been getting a ton of use out of them.  They're super comfortable (which is a must!) and also really stylish.  I love the detailing along the end when you look closely at them.  Since these shorts focus on neutral colors, I had to wear them with a bright shirt.  I love the back of this royal blue shirt and how it swoops down.  These shorts are on the more bold side; therefore, I wore simple jewelry with some gold bracelets and necklace.

I feel like I'm so pale in these pictures (legit translucent), so I definitely need to start working on my summer tan.  Only eight more days of school!

What I Take In My Carry-On

Now that most schools are out (except for mine!), summer vacations have began.  I love vacationing so much since there is no stress or responsibilities and for a few days you can just relax.  I do not enjoy flying though.  I don't like being in a small little place for a long time, I'm not scared of flying, it's just annoying.  My family travels a decent amount though, so I've perfected my carry-on bag which makes flying a lot better.

Makeup Bag:  Why is it that my make-up always ends up messy after flying?  I carry a little makeup case with eyeliner, mascara, concealer, and lipgloss for little fixes once the plane lands.

Magazines:  I refuse to fly without at least two magazines.  They make the time go by much faster and after reading through them I feel like I've learned a lot more in pop culture.

Hair Brush: This is a must.  I think the seats on planes make my hair frizzy or tangled, so keeping a small brush in my bag is always worth it.

Perfume:  Generally I bring a travel size perfume which come with purchases from Sephora for free or things like that.  They're great so you aren't left smelling like the person sitting next to you.

Snacks:  If you don't bring a ton of snacks for long flights then who are you?  I love munching on the plane; however, I try to buy snacks that don't have a strong smell and aren't too crunchy because I don't want to annoy the people around me.

Headphones: I probably listen to music for an hour on the flight, and the normal iPhone ear buds start to get annoying, so I prefer the actual head phones.

What are you travel must haves?

Styling All White

Today's post is pretty special because I've been working with Emma and Andie from E and A Blog.  We combined our fashion knowledge and each wrote a post on styling the color white and creating our own giveaway (rules and instructions for joining the giveaway are below).

I've seen a lot recently about styling all white outfits, so I was excited to try it out today.  I just got this shirt from Nordstrom on sale for half as much as its original price.  It is really flattering, and when I bought the shirt I was unsure about it, but I ended up receiving a lot of compliments.  It's totally one of my favorite shirts now.  I wore it with my white jeans, and kept the outfit simple with my rose gold sandals and necklace, and as usual, pearls.

Look how Emma and Andie styled their white outfit here.

Recipe: Healthy Vegetarian Pizza

I've been doing a ton of healthy eating for the past week, and plan to continue with it.  Summer is right around the corner and I'm still trying to achieve an awesome bikini body.  Therefore, my friend and I from the blog Preppy by the Sea, have been encouraging each other to work out and avoid cookies and ice cream, and all that junk.  It was definitely hard at first, but skipping the carb loaded foods has become a lot easier.

Anyways, I'm thinking of twice a month including a recipe/ cooking with me post on the blog.  One of my all time favorite dinners right now is homemade vegetable pizza.  All you'll need is:

12 inch flour tortilla
Tomatoes
Onion
Feta Cheese
Green Pepper
Olives
Arugula
Pepper

(you can add additional toppings, but these are the ones my family uses. I don't use green peppers or olives though!)

This dinner is super easy, because all you do is chop up the vegetables you want, glaze olive oil over the tortilla, place your toppings on, cook in the oven at 400 degrees for less than 10 minutes, and voila!  A delicious, healthy pizza.

Pajama Day

Latest Obsession: Pajamas

Summer is filled with sleepovers, slumber parties, and staying up late in front of a good movie with your friends.  And don't we all love looking cute while doing those things?  I've noticed not only me, but my friends too becoming more into our pajamas when we have sleepovers.  We love taking mirror selfies all dolled up in our Victorias secret flannel sets or night gowns.  Not only with my friends, but Sunday mornings I feel very "luxurious" when I'm in my matching PJ's, have some slippers on, and am enjoying a big breakfast.   Over the past two year I've acquired these pairs of pajamas (linked below) since they've become one of my obsessions.
