9 Easy Ways to Earn Money

If you're like me and are basically a professional shopper/ money spender then you know making money is a very important part of our lives.  I cannot help but always want to buy, buy, buy and shop, shop, shop!  Clothes, accessories, shoes, and make up are all so needed, but so expensive.  Luckily, I've figured out a few ways to earn money in times of need (some obvious, some not).

1. Babysit

This one is pretty obvious, but this is how I make the majority of my money.  Babysitting pays pretty high these days (I'd say like $15 an hour more or less).  If you don't already babysit, tell your friends that if they're busy when they're ask to babysit, you'd love to cover!  I always need people to cover for me babysitting, so this way you and your friend will be happy.

Perks: high pay, fun job, free food

Downfalls: Friday and Saturday nights normally, possibly an annoying kid

2. Get a Job

Getting a job may seem scary, and is a huge responsibility, but it gives you a consistent pay and you meet a lot of new people.  I work at a local grocery store as a cashier and I LOVE it.  I was scared at first to accept the responsibility, but I couldn't be happier with my decision.  Check ads in windows or ask around at local shops if they're hiring.  Working at a clothing store will also give you shopping discounts!

Perks: consistent pay, meet new people, discounts at place you work

Downfalls: responsibility could be difficult, taxes

3.  Ask Your Parents to do House Chores

Ask your parents if there is anything they need help with around the house.  Set up a system for you to earn an allowance of 10-30 dollars per week depending on how much you're willing to help.  This is normally really easy and you can do simple things like fold laundry, empty/load the dishwasher, walk the dog, etc...

Perks: negotiate pay, negotiate jobs, earn money right at home

Downfalls: paid less since just helping at home

4.  Sell your Study Guides!

This is my favorite way to make money.  I used to do this all the time around midyears and finals.  Make a study guide for 1-5 of your classes (really detailed and professional looking) and sell it to friends and classmates for around $3-5.  This not only helps you earn money, but with schoolwork too.  One year I sold a bunch of history study guides and made $75 in one week.

Perks: fast cash, helps you with studying while earning

Downfalls: only certain times of the year there are big tests

5. Tutor

If you're smart in a particular class sign up to tutor.  Ask in the office building of your school if anyone needs tutoring or if there is a sign up board write down your name.  Tutoring is fun and helps others, and often pays really well.

Perks: helping other people, high pay

Downfalls: must be patient, need to be smart

6.  Online Surveys

This is one of my least favorite methods; however, some people find this really helpful.  If you're not looking to earn money right away, there are sites that will pay you to take surveys.  Some sites lie and that is why I don't love this method, but here are a few survey sites that will pay you (MySurvey, Inbox Dollar, OpinionOutpost).  I recommend signing up for all three websites at once because each will only provide you with 2-3 surveys per month.

Perks: work from home, really easy

Downfalls: may not be able to trust site, make very little

7. Sell Your Closet

Ahh I know this title sounds horrible.  Who wants to sell their clothes? But, honestly we all have some old things we need to get rid of so why not sell them so you can buy something new?  Snap a picture of what you want to sell and pick a price then upload it to a used clothing website like ThredUp, for more information click the link here.

Perks: get paid for things you would've thrown out

Downfalls: organization skills and trips to the post office to send out old clothes

8. Gigwalk App

Download this app on your iPhone and it has you complete simple tasks according to the location around you.  this may require taking pictures of a restaurant venue or reviewing the coffee you just drank at a café.  This is really useful if you're in a city for the day.  I haven't tried the app yet, but have seen my friends using it and am going to download it.

Perks: write fun reviews, work in your own space

Downfalls: not living in a city environment, pays little

9. Blogging

Blogging won't make you much money at first, it'll take most likely more than a year to make any significant amount, but if you have a successful blog the income will add up.  

Perks: make money doing something you enjoy, work from home

Downfalls: takes a lot of time, pay starts off low (but it will build up eventually)
